Day 13 – Wednesday June 7

Day 13 – Wednesday June 7

This morning the IT, Architectural, and Engineering students and I all went to a cafe near our hotel called Avenue on George. Today was bittersweet as it was our last day in Australia.

We tried the Breakfast Tacos, a fancy Eggs Benedict, and the Avenue Omelette. All of our food and drinks ended up being delicious!

The Nursing/Healthcare students had a business visit and interview at the Museum of Human Disease. The museum has a collection of over 1500 diseased tissue specimens showing how disease affects the body. Students had an opportunity to interview an employee of the museum to learn about how they receive the donor tissue, how they preserve the tissue, how technology is incorporated into this process as well as other questions. Unfortunately the museum does not allow photos to be taken inside.

After we finished up breakfast we used the ferry to get to Manly, which was highly recommended on multiple occasions by many of the locals. The view from the ferry was spectacular, we all were watching from the back of the boat as we got to see the Opera House and the spectacular Sydney skyline.

Once in Manly we had a bit of a shopping spree through the Corso, which was a very cute strip mall that led us to the South Steyne Beach. It was absolutely gorgeous and we got to watch a bunch of surfers waiting for waves and wiping out.

The Vivid drone light show “Written in the Stars” was absolutely amazing even though we were on the back side of it (thus the images appear backwards).

Thank you to Gateway, TAFE, and our amazing professors for this amazing program. It truly has been life changing and has opened my eyes to so many new experiences and opportunities.
